Bangladesh’ chance to be David. Will they create history?

April 12, 2006

On the 1st morning of Cricket Test Match #1797 between Australia and Bangladesh on April 9, Australia were presented with Test and One Day chamionship trophies and US$ 500,000 for being the no.1 side in Test and One day cricket. As per the Test cricket rankings as on April 5, Bangladesh are ranked 10th amongst 10 test playing nations. Now who would have expcted following score line at the end of day 3: Bangladesh: 427 & 124/5 and Australia: 269. Australia trailing in the 1st innings and facing a lead of 280+ runs with 5 Bangladesh batsmen still to play.

Indeed. Most of the Bangaladesh fans and Aussie haters would have probabaly already begun celebrations in anticipation of Bangaldesh victory and Australian defeat. After all this is a rare occassion and they would be would be hoping that Bangladesh pull of a victory similar to June 18, 2005 when Bangladesh defeated Australia in a one day match.

But Cricket, they say is a very funny game. And so I would still put my money on Australia because they are a very professional side and on many occassions in the past have snatched victories from the jaws of defeat. I certainly look forward to an interesting day's play ahead today.

Not surprisingly, State Bank of India!

State Bank of India (SBI) employees strike for increase in pension enters into seventh day today. For almost a week now, these striking employees have held the entire nation hostage.

Few months back, SBI launched a major campaign to improve its image amongst young & educated urban customers. Indeed State Bank of India with more than US $120 billion in assets, 12000+ branches and 5500+ ATMs is the largest Indian bank. But sadly, not the best when it comes to customer service! And the ongoing strike doesn't do any good.

As a result of the ongoing strike, some of the state governments have moved their accounts to other banks. I won't be surprised, if some of the retail customers follow the suite especially if they have better options available in the market.

So, do you know which bank cares the least about their customers? Not surprisingly, it is the same bank which claims to be with you – always! That is, when they are not on strike!
